Discovering traditional sweets from Le Petit Duc!

The memory of a honey candy in our dear Grandmother's cupboards, the taste of childhood in Berlingots de Carpentras or the subtlety of filled raspberries... We all have at least one emotionally rich memory linked to these old-fashioned sweets. This collection of confectionery brings together our favorite treats, all stemming from traditional know-how and always made according to the rules of art by passionate artisans.

Le Petit Duc, a good treasure hunter, has traveled France to find the best sweets for the greatest pleasure of young and old gourmands. Ancestral recipes, sometimes dating from the Middle Ages, which are appreciated from generation to generation and which Le Petit Duc is proud to perpetuate in its beautiful range of traditional sweets.

Focus on unique know-how, the fruit of a tradition dating from the Middle Ages: crystallized flowers and leaves!

Under a thin layer of sugar, we find the freshness of crystallized mint leaves, the delicacy of a rosebud or the sweetness of violet... Initially used by apothecaries, these fresh flowers and leaves were then sublimated by confectioners at the beginning of the 19th century. As soon as they were picked, they were crystallized in a sugar syrup, thus becoming delicious treats. Let yourself be tempted by some crystallized flowers and leaves with violet, rose and mint. Exceptional and refined sweets that will sublimate a cup of tea or a glass of Champagne...

Historic sweets in magnificent glass jars

Formerly packaged in plastic cylinders, these confections are now dressed in magnificent glass jars! Bringing more refinement to the range, these new containers were chosen for various reasons: infinite recyclability in most countries around the world, reuse of the container by the consumer, and their origin by selecting a French supplier for responsible sourcing! We can all agree that these sweets are as delicious for the eyes as for the taste buds, can't we?

What exactly is infinite recyclability? (Source: verre-avenir.fr)

Glass can be melted down endlessly to make new containers, without any loss of quality, transparency or material. This is what is called "a circular economy model."

Glass recycling notably allows:

- to save energy. A 10% increase in recycled glass replacing virgin raw materials allows for a 3% energy saving,

- to limit CO2 emissions. One ton of recycled glass saves more than 500 kg of CO2,

- to reduce the extraction of natural resources. For every kg of cullet used to replace raw material, 1.2 kg of virgin materials are saved,

- to optimize logistics and thus minimize the carbon footprint linked to transport. Recycled glass comes from local collections, close to glass production factories,

- to maximize the value of collected glass by avoiding its disposal in landfills.

Reusing the container by the consumer: What to do with a glass jar when all the candies have been eaten?

On this side, it's very simple! Here are our little ideas for not putting your glass jar in recycling:

- Put candy back in it!

- Use it as a small piggy bank by creating a slot in the lid

- Turn it into a pencil holder

- Use it as a container for your sauces, vinaigrettes...

- Use it to store small, easily lost objects: buttons, paper clips, children's game pieces...

Don't hesitate to share your ideas or inspirations!
